It's been a while since my last column, and a lot has happened including losing two games on the bounce but the less said about that the better!
Firstly and most importantly there have been some player movements. Craig Roberts has decided that he is going to stop playing which is a great shame. Robbo has been club captain for two seasons and has been with me since I started as manager. He is still going to be involved in the club and his cheery disposition will no doubt cheer the lads up when he is in attendance. Sincere thanks to Robbo for everything on and off the pitch.
Nikki Beale has also decided to move on, the lure of Ryman football was too much to turn down and he has returned to Great Wakering Rovers. Although they are struggling at the moment I am sure they will turn it around. If not, at the very least, with messrs Beale (senior and junior) in attendance at least bar takings will be healthy.
Dom Binns, last seasons top scorer, is having a short break from football due to personal commitments.
I am pleased to announce we have signed Jack Adlington from Great Wakering, a good young player with a lot of potential.
Having lost 2 games before Xmas, one to league leaders Basildon, we are sadly resigned to the fact that we won't win the league this year. Subsequently my Christmas was shit.
The lads bounced back with wins against Old Southendians in the league and Manford Way in the Essex Premier Cup. Still a long way to go but we are enjoying every minute.
We wish veteran midfielder Dave Collins well with his "surgical procedure" later this month and personally I can't wait to see what hairstyle you choose.
We have two huge games at home coming up; Great Baddow on 21st Jan and a resurgent Hutton on the 28th. Please come down and watch. Some of the quality of football in Eofl this year is far superior to some other "bigger" leagues.
Good luck to everyone in 2017.
